Sprinkler Gun Maintenance
Maintenance of sprinkler guns is crucial to ensuring long-term stable operation and extending their service life. Due to their relatively simple structure, maintenance focuses on a few key points.
Following the principle of "daily inspection, regular maintenance, and thorough decommissioning" can prevent most malfunctions.
The following is a specific and practical maintenance guide:
1. Quick Inspection Before Daily Use (before each startup)
Check the water inlet filter: Ensure that the filter or screen at the spray gun's water inlet is clean and unobstructed to prevent weeds, sand, and other debris from entering the gun body, which could wear internal parts or clog the nozzle.
Check the connections: Quickly check the connection between the spray gun and the water supply hose or aluminum pipe for a secure fit and leaks.
Check the bracket/trolley: Ensure that the bracket or wheels supporting the spray gun are in good condition and provide stable support.
2. Monitoring During Operation (Listen and Watch)
Observe the rotation and spraying: Observe whether the spray gun rotates evenly and smoothly. If the rotation is jerky, fluctuates, or stops, stop the machine immediately for inspection. Observe the spray pattern: Observe the nozzle for a complete and uniform spray pattern. If the spray pattern is scattered, forked, or irregular, it usually indicates nozzle wear or clogging.
Listen to the sound: The operating sound should be smooth, without unusual knocking or grinding sounds.
3. Regular Maintenance and Cleaning (according to frequency of use, such as weekly or quarterly)
Cleaning the nozzle: This is the most important maintenance step. Regularly remove the nozzle and use soft water or a toothbrush to clean any accumulated sand and impurities. Severely worn nozzles (such as those with enlarged or uneven nozzles) will seriously affect spray uniformity and should be replaced promptly.
Lubricate rotating parts: According to the product manual, add the specified lubricant or grease to the rotating bearings or gears of the spray gun to ensure smooth rotation.
Check the seals: Check the rubber seals at all joints for aging, deformation, or damage. If any problems are found, replace them promptly to prevent leaks. IV. Long-term Storage After the Season (Critical!)
At the end of the irrigation season and when preparing for long-term storage, the following steps must be taken:
Drain thoroughly: Completely drain the spray gun and its connected pipes to prevent freezing and cracking of the gun and pipes during the winter.
Clean thoroughly: Rinse the inside and outside of the spray gun, especially the nozzle and filter, to thoroughly remove any sand and dirt.
Lubricate and prevent rust: Thoroughly lubricate all moving parts and treat metal surfaces with a rust preventative treatment.
Disassemble and store: If possible, remove the spray gun from its bracket. Store it in a dry, clean, and dark place indoors or in a warehouse.
Summary: Maintaining a sprinkler gun is like maintaining a precision "water gun":
Before use: Check that the "ammunition" is clean (filter the water).
During use: Observe that the "fire" is smooth and even.
After use: Wipe it clean, especially the "muzzle" (nozzle).
Store: Drain, oil, and store in a dry place. Follow these simple steps and your sprinkler spray guns will perform reliably every irrigation season.
