To ensure water pumps remain in good condition year after year, targeted maintenance according to seasonal changes is crucial. The spring start-up period is the golden time for comprehensive inspection and preparation. Carefully check all component connections for tightness and pipes for cracks, especially for pumps that have been unused for a long time. Thoroughly clean the inlet filter and remove scale and impurities from the pump body, and apply special lubricating oil to parts requiring lubrication. If using a diesel engine water pump, also change the engine oil and the three filters (air filter, air filter, and fuel filter). During the initial test run, start the pump briefly and observe for any abnormal noises or leaks. Only after confirming everything is normal should it be put into regular use.

During the peak irrigation seasons of summer and autumn, the core of maintenance lies in careful daily observation and timely upkeep. During operation, listen for a steady sound, observe for any abnormal vibrations, and frequently check the inlet for blockages by weeds and debris. After each use, simply clean the mud and dirt off the pump body and ensure good ventilation and heat dissipation. If the water pump operates continuously for extended periods, check the bearings or casing temperature during breaks to ensure it is not too high. When not in use for extended periods, it is best to drain any water from the pump and cover it with a waterproof cloth to prevent sun, rain, and dust intrusion.

Winter maintenance focuses on freeze protection and proper storage. Before cold weather arrives, thoroughly drain any water from the pump, pipes, and all valves; this is the most crucial step in preventing freezing and cracking. Remove removable parts such as belts and small parts, clean them, apply rust-preventative oil, and store them separately in a dry place. If the pump is installed in a fixed outdoor location, insulate it or completely cover it with a thick rain and snow cover. Throughout the winter, periodically check the storage conditions to ensure a dry and well-ventilated environment, laying the foundation for successful operation the following year.
