Safety requirements for the use of internal combustion engines
1. Large internal combustion engines must be installed indoors. If small internal combustion engines are linked with other machinery and installed outdoors, an operating shed should be set up with protective railings around them.
2. The power room should have good ventilation, and there should be a passage of more than 1m wide around the internal combustion engine.
The exhaust pipe must be led to the outside and must not come into contact with combustibles.
3. It is strictly forbidden to heat the crankcase of a gasoline engine with an open flame. If the crankcase of a diesel engine is heated with an open flame, it must be supervised by a dedicated person.
4. The lubrication surface of the crankcase should be within the specified range of the scale. When checking or adding fuel,
smoking or approaching with an open flame is strictly prohibited.
5. Cooling water must be clean soft water, and it should be added when it is insufficient. For a circulating water system with external cooling, all water supply valves (or water pumps) should be opened.
6. Check that the joints of each assembly are firm and the tightness of the V-belt should be appropriate.
7. The clutch should be in the disengaged position before starting, and the diesel engine with a decompression device should open the pressure relief valve.
8. When starting with a crank handle, five fingers should be put together and lifted from the bottom to the top. Do not press hard downward or shake continuously. When starting with a hand-pulled rope, do not wrap one end of the rope around your hand.
9. When starting with a small engine, the starting time should not exceed 5 minutes each time. When starting with a DC motor, each time should not exceed 10 seconds. When starting with compressed air, the mark on the flywheel should be aligned with the starting position. If it still cannot start after 3 consecutive attempts, check the cause and start again after eliminating the fault.
10. When starting a diesel engine at low temperature, if it is preheated with an air preheater, the time is 15 to 20 seconds, and it should be started immediately after preheating. When starting with starting fluid, the crankshaft should be cranked 1 to 2 turns first, and then the starting fluid should be sprayed for 1 to 2 seconds to start. Stop spraying immediately after starting, and do a good job of anti-toxicity of the starting fluid.
11. After starting, the engine should be operated at low speed for 3 to 5 minutes before gradually increasing the speed and load. When operating at low speed, the oil pressure and exhaust pipe exhaust should be normal, and there should be no leakage in the pipelines of each system. When the temperature and oil pressure are normal, the engine can be operated under load.
12. When the temperature of the internal combustion engine is too high and the cooling water boils and the water tank cover must be opened, the operator should wear gloves and keep his face away from the water tank cover. It is strictly forbidden to inject cold water into the water tank or pour it on the internal combustion engine to force cooling.
13. If abnormal noise or other faults are found, the engine should be stopped immediately for inspection and elimination.
14. Before stopping, the load should be removed and the engine should be operated at medium speed, and then the throttle should be closed to prevent operation.
The internal combustion engine equipped with a boiler supercharger should be operated at idle speed for 5 to 10 minutes after operation before it can be stopped.
15. For water-cooled internal combustion engines, when the temperature drops below 5°C, the water in each part should be drained after work. When draining water, the drainage valves and water tank caps of each part should be opened. The operator must wait until the water is drained before leaving the post. For those with external circulating water, the water inlet valve (or water pump) should be closed before shutting down.
16. For diesel engines with decompression devices, the decompression rod shall not be used to shut down the engine.
17. For internal combustion engines with the exhaust pipe opening facing upward, the exhaust pipe opening should be covered.
18. It is strictly forbidden to use gasoline or kerosene to clean the air filter and core of the internal combustion engine.
